Fotímnafilm.sk

First Slovak film photography blog

Fotímnafilm.sk is my longest-running side project. I started it in 2016 as a place to write about shooting film, in Slovak, mostly to work out what I was doing with all those rolls: what I was learning, and what I was getting wrong. Ten years on it has turned into something closer to a reference site, with a community around it: articles, film development recipes, a glossary of analogue terms, article series, and a newsletter.

It is also where my two favourite things overlap. Film photography slows me down, building the site that holds it speeds me back up. Film and tech together is the whole appeal.

For most of its life it ran on WordPress. After all those plugins and all that patience I am moving it to a fast static site built with Astro and MDX, with the content living in plain files where it belongs. Rebuilding every post, category and redirect is slow, careful work, and honestly, it has become my escape project.

If you read Slovak, or just want to look at film photographs, it lives at fotimnafilm.sk, or the new version at beta.fotimnafilm.sk.
